H. B. CARTER OF MACKSBURG DIES

Had Operated Locker Plant in Macksburg Past 14 Years

Horace B. Carter, a resident of Madison and Union counties most of his life, died Wednesday, Sept 9, at his home in Macksburg. He was 68 years of age. For the past 14 years he had owned and operated the Carter Locker service in Macksburg.

Mr. Carter was born at Lorimor May 22, 1891, a son of Elbert and Amanda Carter. He was married in 1910 to Ethel L. Masters. They were parents of nine children, one son dying in infancy. The wife and mother died in 1933.

In 1934 he was married to Dulcie V. Busch, who survives him.

He was a member of the Odd Fellows lodge at Macksburg.

In addition to his wife; he leaves a son, Adron Carter of Des Moines; seven daughters, Avis Christian of San Diego, Verda Dudney and Waunita Lewis of Lorimor, Amanda Reed of Creston, Ada Bennett of Knoxville, Margaret Robinson of Ottumwa and Marie Bricker of Earlham; six stepchildren; 28 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; four brothers and a sister.

Funeral services were held Sept. 12 from the Macksburg Methodist church, conducted by the Rev. Donald Frank. Burial was made in the Lorimor cemetery.
