Mrs. Alice Palmer, of Tacoma, Washington, died there Sunday evening. A telegram from Miss Delia Palmer to John Guiher stated that the body would arrive in Winterset next Saturday morning. Mrs. Palmer was the wife of Major G. D. Palmer a former publisher of The News.

After his death In February, 1888, Mrs. Palmer remained here several years before she went with her daughter to Washington. The family lived in Winterset a long time. Mrs. Palmer was highly esteemed in Winterset, Her home on West Court avenue was known for its hospitality, and she presided over it with a quiet dignity and charming manner that won her the friendship of all Winterset people She was highly educated. She was a devout member of the Presbyterian church. Mrs. Palmer must have been well over eighty years old at the time of her death. Miss Delia Palmer will accompany the body here.
