May 23, 1947 - November 16, 2015Clara Edwards, 68, and Pamala Oshel, 49, both of Cedar Bluff, Alabama, formerly of Lorimor, Iowa, died Monday, November 16, 2015. (See separate notice for Pamala).
A visitation for mother and daughter will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, November 22 at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset, where family will be present to receive friends during this time.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 23 at Ochiltree’s with burial to follow in the Lorimor Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the family and online condolences may be left for the family at ochiltree.com.Clara Lee Spyres was born May 23, 1947 in Oceanside, California, the daughter of John and Wanda (Summerlin) Spyres. She grew up in Ozark and graduated from Ozark High School in 1965. She married Larry Marts and to this union two children were born. She later married John Edwards on June 3, 1979 in Thayer.
During her working years Clara was employed by Williams Insurance and L and E Plumbing both in Lorimor. She will be remembered most for her work behind the food counter at Montross Pharmacy in Winterset, where she always served the customers with a kind word and a smile.
Clara was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, the Red Hat Society and she enjoyed bowling. She also loved cats and was a great cook. All this said, she was devoted to her family, taking care of them in any way she could and she especially loved children who she would spoil endlessly.
She is survived by her children, Sarah (Adam) Stichter of Lorimor; Karla Goodwin of Indianola; Debra Eggman of Prescott; John T. Edwards of Lorimor; siblings, Tammy (Kelly) Simmerman of Murray; Hubert (Christi) Spyres of Lawrenceville, GA; Bill Spyres of Ozark, AR; Mike (Becky) Landreth of Buena Vista, CO; Kim (Jeremy) Hooper of Lorimor; 9 great-grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.
Clara was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Charles Landreth; husband, John who died September 23, 2009; son, Charlie Marts; daughter, Pamala Oshel; sister, Sue Duffe; brother, Larry Landreth; a granddaughter and a sister-in-law, Delores Spyres.
