Virginia Husted, Pleasant Hill

Virginia "Ginny" Anne Husted, 89, of Pleasant Hill, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving husband and daughters on November 4, 2015 at Parkridge Speciality Care in Pleasant Hill.

The youngest of six children, Ginny was born at home in Madrid, Iowa on August 22, 1926 to Nellie Ada Stippich Michael and Daniel F. Michael. After graduating from North High School in Des Moines she attended Trinity Bible College in Chicago. Through the years Ginny worked as a bookkeeper/secretary/teller for Felco Coop, Methodist Hospital, Valley (US) Bank, and her last job prior to retiring was as a roving secretary at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, NM.

Ginny married the love of her life, Thomas "Art" Husted, on May 31, 1946. After raising their children in Ankeny, Ginny and Art moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico in 1979. In 1992 they were blessed to be able to live their dream as full-time RVrs, enjoying their travels throughout the United States until 2012 when they returned to the Des Moines area.

Ginny was a loving mother and dearly loved her grandchildren as they loved her. She enjoyed music, cooking, her pet dogs over the years, fishing, playing Aggrevation and meeting fellow RVrs.

Those left to cherish her life are her husband of 69 years, Thomas "Art" Husted, and her five daughters, Lucinda "Cindy" (Gary) Watson, Scherri Cory (Schlicher), Christy (Carl) Keul, Winona (David) Albright, and Melody Husted, her sister, Thelma Mason, 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Paul Husted, her son-in-law, Ray Schlicher, her granddaughter, Kelly Keul, her brothers, Roland Michael and Daniel "Mick" Michael, and her sisters, Verda Sides and Estella Fickel.

A memorial service with internment in the St. Charles Cemetery is being planned for May, 2016.
