Mrs. Eliza Bartrug died at her home three miles south of St. Charles on the 4th of Jan. Her funeral was held in the M. E. church on the 5th conducted by Rev. Williams, of East Peru. She was in her eightieth year, and estimable Christian lady and had been an intense sufferer for many months.

Eliza Jane Young was born Aug. 9, 1826 in Westmorland co., Pa., and died at her home near St. Charles, January 4, 1905 aged 78 years, 4 months and 25 days.

In 1830 she with her parents moved to Ohio. About 1851 she moved to W. Virginia. She was married to Peter J. Bartrug Sept. 28, 1853. Eight children were born to them, four dying in infancy. She with her husband came to Madison co. in 1877.

Funeral services were conducted in the M. E. church January 5th with 6 grandsons as the pall bearers.

St. Charles - ELIZA BARTRUG

Grandma Bartrug, who for the past several months has been a severe sufferer from gangrene died on last Wed. Jan. 4 about 10 a.m.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Williams of Peru, and were held at the ME church here Thursday after which interment took place in the Clanton cemetery.

Eliza Jane Young

Was born August 9, 1826 in West Moorland county, Penn. And died at her home in St. Charles, Iowa January 4, 1905, aged 78 years, 4 months and 25 days. In 1830 she, with her parents, moved to Ohio. About 1851 she moved to West Virginia,

She was married to Peter J. Bartrug September 28, 1853. Eight children were born to them four dying in infancy. The four children who survive their mother were with her during her last sickness.

She, with her husband, came to Madison county, Iowa in 1877. Her husband died January 29, 1889, since then she has lived with her youngest son, who has been a good and faithful son to his aged and afflicted mother. She has been a cheerful, patient invalid, unable to walk for three years.

Funeral services were conducted in the M. E, church January 5th by Rev. Williams. Many years ago the deceased had identified herself with this church. In accordance with request sixth chapter of St. John was read, text from the twentieth verse. Six grandsons were the pall bearers. Besides children and grandchildren, she leaves two brothers, one sister, and a large ----- of relatives and friends.
