March 1933MARY LOUISE WISE
Mary Louise Wise, nee Seibert was born in Philadelphia, Penn., February 18, 1858. There she was dedicated to the Lord in Holy baptism. When eleven years of age she came to Polk county, Iowa, with her parents who took up their abode near Grimes. Here she made her confirmation vows at the altar of the Lutheran church to which confession and faith she remained true until her death.
February 5, 1880, she was united in marriage to James C. Wise with whom she lived a happy married life for fifty-three years. This union was blessed with eleven children, one of whom preceded the mother into eternity.
For many years the family lived near Winterset, Iowa, later moving to the farm southeast of St. Marys where Mrs. Wise was a member of the Martensdale Lutheran church and an active member of the Lutheran Ladies aid society of the church. Her faithfulness and loyalty; her congenial nature and helping hand made her friends whereever she went, so that not only a devoted family but many friends mourn her departure.
She died Saturday morning, March 11, at the age of 75 years and 21 days. She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, James C. Wise; ten children, Harry, Mrs. Anna Edwards, William, Earl, Caldwell, Scott, Mrs. Jennie Howard, Mrs. Marie Archer, Hulda and Edward; three brothers, John, Charles, and Edward Seibert of Grimes, Iowa, and twenty-eight grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. L. G. Krebs of Des Moines, pastor of the Martensdale Lutheran church at the Martensdale Lutheran church at 10:30 a. m., March 14, 1933, and also at the Grimes Lutheran church at 2 p. m., with interment at the Grimes cemetery.
