Funeral Services Held Sunday At The Church of Christ—Had Lived Here Many Years
Mrs. Lemuel Beem died Friday evening at her home in the southwest part of Winterset following an illness of several weeks duration. She was 66 years old.
Mrs. Beem was a native of Illinois and when a child moved to Dexter, the family going from there to Adams county. After her marriage to Mr. Beem in 1881 the couple came to Winterset where they had since made their home.
She is survived by Mr. Beem; her daughters, Mrs. Lulu Estel, Mrs. Stella Craven, Mrs. Amanda Allen and Susie Beem; and a son, all of Winterset; another daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Furrow, of Mullen, Nebraska, also survives as do three brothers.
Funeral services were held from the Church of Christ Sunday afternoon conducted by the Rev. F. Clare McCallon. Burial was in the Winterset cemetery.

Laura Elizabeth Rose, daughter of James and Helen Rose was born in Marora, Illinois, August 21, 1862, and died at her home in Winterset, January 6, 1927. She moved with her parents to Dexter, Iowa and resided there a short time moving to Adams county, Iowa, where she grew to young womanhood. After her marriage to Lemuel L. Beem December 22, 1881, they moved to Madison county where they made their permanent home.
To this home came nine children, Mrs. Myrtle Furrow, of Mullen, Nebraska; Mrs. Lulu Estel, Mrs. Stella Craven, Susie Beem, Mrs. Amanda Allen, Clarence W., all of Winterset. Children who preceded her in death are Julia, and Helen who died in infancy and Mrs. Florence Roberts whose death occurred in 1925.
Thirty-five years ago Mrs. Beem united with the Church of Christ and was a faithful member until death. She leaves beside her own family three brothers, Dudley, Harry and Robert Rose.
Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ Sunday afternoon, January 8 by the Rev. F. Clare McCallon. Burial was in the Winterset cemetery.
