September 17, 1941 - October 15, 2015

James Busch, 74, of Winterset passed away Thursday, October 15, 2015 at the Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 16, at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset, where his family will be present to receive friends at this time. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 17, at the Macksburg United Methodist Church, Macksburg. Memorials may be made to the Iowa Chapter of the ALS Association or the Macksburg United Methodist Women, and online condolences may be left for the family at ochiltree.com. Burial will be at a later date at Pleasant View cemetery north of Macksburg.

James A. Busch, son of Stanley and Mildred (Iiams) Busch, was born September 17, 1941, at Creston, Iowa. Jim graduated from Macksburg High School in 1960. He continued his education at Iowa State University, graduating with a degree in Farm Operations. He volunteered for the Peace Corps for two years in the Dominican Republic.  Following his time in the Peace Corps he obtained his teaching certificate from Iowa State University.

Jim was united in marriage with Sue Rodemyer on August 20, 1983 at the Dowling Catholic High School Chapel.  He taught Agricultural Education at Fontanelle High School for two years. Jim had a true passion for farming, and took over the family farm in Madison County in 1968.  Jim was an avid reader, with some favorite topics being Madison County history, family history and agricultural conservation.  He was a member of the Macksburg United Methodist Church, the Farm Bureau, Madison County Cattlemen’s Association, the Iowa Pork Producers Association, the Iowa Sheep Industry Association and was a past Webster Township trustee. Jim cherished the time he was able to spend with his family.

Jim is survived by his wife of 32 years, Sue Busch of Winterset; three sisters, Karen (Jon) White of Cedar Rapids, Sandra (Rob) Murray of Jefferson City, MO, and Linda (Mike) Dwyer of Bella Vista, AR; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
