John Quick, Des Moines

John Thomas Quick 40, passed away September 22, 2015 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. A memorial mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 28 at The Basilica of St. John. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, September 27 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home & Crematory.

John was a loving and dedicated father. He didn't know a stranger; he was a friend to everyone. Generous and kind - he would give someone the shirt off his back if they needed it. He loved to invent things such as a portable hand washer, which he patented.

John worked for Swackhammer Farms and loved operating the Cat Challenger. He also worked at Truro Grain as a scale master and for many years prior to as owner/operator of Quick Co. Inc.; a painting/drywall business.

John is survived by his children, Ethan, Haley, Abigail and Taylor Quick; their mother, Juli Quick; mother, Penny Quick; father, Thomas Quick; brother, Timothy Quick; sister, Megan Quick; grandmother, Maxine Ferris; grandfather, James Quick and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mary Lee Quick and grandfather, Freddie Ferris.
