JANET LEMON, WINTERSET

Janet Lemon, 72, of Winterset has passed away.

A luncheon will be held Saturday, Sept. 26, at Foursquare Church in Winterset at noon, with Celebration of Life services at 1:30 p.m.

Janet Louise Parker was born Aug. 9, 1943, to Mae L (Nixon) Parker and Archie Neil Parker in what is now known as the Jordan Creek area. She married John A Lemon on March 21, 1958; to this union two daughters were born. They resided a short time in Seattle, Wash., then returned to the Winterset area. In 1970 they purchased a farm south of Lorimor. Early on Janet worked in her in-laws’ Ice House in Winterset. She was also a homemaker; later on she did part time house cleaning, waitress work and at Howell Tree Farm for a season. In the early 1980s she began setting up at local farmers markets.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mae L Skillern; father, Archie Neil Parker; and one sister, Colleen.

She is survived by her husband, John Lemon; daughters, Tina Molln and Johnna (Roger) McNeley; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren with one on the way; a sister, Delores (Frank) Winchell of Nevada; two brothers, Neil (Annie) Parker of North Dakota and Tommy Parker of Washington.
