Last Rites For Dr. B. J. Fry, 63

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, April 11, at the Presbyterian church in Corning for Dr. B. J. Fry, 63, Corning osteopath and prominent community leader.

Dr. Fry died at Greater Community hospital in Creston at 9:45 p.m. Sunday, April 8. He had entered the hospital early Saturday morning after suffering a heart attack at his home.

Dr. Fry was born in Earlham on July 19, 1899. He entered the teaching profession and was head of the commercial department of the Creston high school from 1920 to 1926. He was principal of the high school in 1925-26.

He gave up the teaching profession to study osteopathy. He had practiced in Corning for the past 19 years. Prior to this time, he practiced in Leon and Garfield, Kansas.

In Corning he was active in the affairs of the community in addition to the devotion to his profession. He was a past president of the Corning chamber of commerce and the Corning Rotary Club. He also served on the former Corning Independent school district board of education, and was a member of the Presbyterian church.

He is survived by his widow, Hazel Sash Fry; two sons, Geo. Fry and James Fry, both of Omaha, Nebraska; a sister, Mrs. Fletcher (Mary) Allen of Ames.

Services were conducted by Rev. W. H. Sinning. Music was by Mrs. Bert Peckham, Mrs. Doyle Tranbarger, Ted Turner and Gary John. Mrs. Dorothy Cook was organist.

Burial was in Graceland cemetery in Creston, where Masonic services were conducted by Crest City lodge, Creston, of which Dr. Fry was a member.----Adams County Free Press
