He entered the United States Army and served in the South Pacific and spent three years in combat zones in New Guinea, the Philippines and then with the Occupation Army of Japan at the end of World War II.

Carl was united in marriage with Lois Kimpton on September 28, 1940 in Chillicothe, Missouri. He worked as the Meat Manager for United Food Stores and later the Assistant Manager at the Fareway Meat Department. Carl also helped his son Glen farm. Carl loved to go flying with Glen and Linda and see Madison County from above. He was known for sitting outside his garage on South 8th Avenue and waving at the passing traffic. Carl enjoyed watching The Price is Right and writing his guesses in a notebook to see how close he was.

Above all else, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who cherished the time he was able to spend with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Carl is survived by two sons, Dale (Linda) Anderson of White Pigeon, MI and Glen (Linda) Anderson of Winterset; seven grandchildren, Michael Anderson, Robert Anderson, Woody Little, Andrew Little, Allen Anderson, Emma Hantelmann, and Aaron Anderson; 14 great grandchildren; brothers, David (Marge) Anderson of Lee’s Summit, MO and Ted (Jean) Anderson of Independence, MO; sister, Agnes Bonema of Barefoot Bay, FL; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 68 years, Lois; parents, August and Alta; brothers, John and Alfred Anderson; sisters, Signe Pace, Helma Burke, and Helga Wagner.
