Larry Weiser Killed When Hit By Train

Larry Weiser, 18, of Linden was killed Thursday morning shortly after 7:00 a.m. when Rock Island Train No. 9 struck his car at the Chestnut street crossing.

He was employed by the construction company building the new mill for the Farmers Co-op Elevator Co., and has been working here the past few months.

Weiser, with some of his fellow employees, finished their breakfast at the Earlham Café, went out and got into their cars and started for work. There were four riders in the first car followed by Weiser who was alone in his car. The first car crossed safely but Weiser’s car was struck and caught on the front of the locomotive, which carried it beyond the Walnut street crossing.

He, with his wife, the former Shirley Bradshaw of Linden, had been living in Waukee. His mother is Mrs. Clarence Snyder of Linden.
