Corporal Lynford Glen Bebout, son of Clarence and Hazel Bebout was born March 1st, 1922, at Bondurant, Iowa. He moved south of Dexter with his family at the age of two years, where he resided through his school years. He was graduated from Dexter High school in 1941. He was united in marriage to Roma Dale of Stuart, Iowa on April 12th, 1942. To this union two children were born, Rhea Rose, deceased, and Walter Glen, who resides with his mother.

He entered the Armed Services November 22nd, 1942, taking his training at Camp Walters, Texas, and Fort Benning, Georgia. He sailed for the European Area, June 5th, 1944 where he served with Gen. Pattons’ First Army and the 42nd Division. He was killed in action in southern France, November 7th, 1944 at the age of 22 years, eight months and seven days.

He leaves to mourn his death, one son, Walter, father and mother, one brother, Francis of Dexter; four sisters: Sue at home; Mrs. Ivan Gilmore of Linden, Iowa; Mrs. Carlton Zornes of Dexter; Mrs. Laurence Waddell of Earlham; and a grandfather and grandmother, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bebout of Earlham. One brother and one sister preceded him in death.

The Military Funeral Service was held at the Dexter Methodist church, the pastor officiating, assisted by the Rev. Roy E. Jones of the local Presbyterian church, attended by the local American Legion Post, who rendered the funeral service at the graveside. That which was mortal was laid to rest at the local cemetery. The vocal music at the church was rendered by Mrs. Glenn Drake, with Mrs. R. P. Weesner at the piano.

Lost Life in Europe November 7, 1944

A military funeral service was held at the Dexter Methodist church with the pastor officiating, assisted by the Rev. Roy E. Jones of the local Presbyterian church, attended by the local American Legion Post, who rendered the final service at the graveside. That which was mortal was laid to rest at the local cemetery. The vocal music at the church was rendered by Mrs. Glenn, with Mrs. R. P. Weesner at the piano. Casket bearers were Walter Schafer, Leon Thompson, Dick Dwinell, Howard Marsh, Harvey Beaman and Charles Lee.
