Alva La Verre Wright was born on August 21, 1875 to Aaron and Sarah Wright on a farm in Dallas county. He had five brothers and two sisters. He died March 11, 1953; he was 77 years and seven months at his passing.

In the year 1900, on the 26th day of September, he was united in marriage with Mary Pearl McKibben. To this union was added six children: Kelly, Don, Fred, Guy, Howard and a daughter, Flora. His beloved wife, Mary, preceded him to the presence of God, having left this life September 24, 1927.

Alva Wright was a member of the Christian church. He was also an ardent Mason. For the past nine years he has been residing at the Elm Crest nursing home in Des Moines. Before this time he farmed northeast of Earlham.

He leaves to mourn his passing his six children: Kelly and Mrs. Howard Waggoner, of Cave Junction, Oregon; Don, of Sioux City; Fred, of Vinton; and Guy and Howard of Earlham; five brothers, and two sisters; seven grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.

Alva Wright, 78 Died Wednesday

Funeral services for Alva L. Wright, 78, will be held at the Earlham Church of Christ Friday afternoon, March 13 at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Loren Emerson will be in charge.

For many years Mr. Wright was engaged in farming north of Earlham. Due to failing health he retired nine years ago and has made his home in Des Moines since that time.

His wife preceded him in death in 1927. He is survived by his six children, one daughter, Mrs. Flora Wagoner of Cave Junction, Oregon; and five sons, Kelly of Cave Junction, Oregon; Don of Sioux City; Fred of Vinton; Guy and Howard of Earlham.

Interment will be in the Earlham cemetery.
