Agnes, daughter of Paul and Antoine Prohaska, was born in De Soto, Iowa, Dec. 15, 1871. She died at the home of her parents on Friday, September 4, 1903, after an illness of nearly a year of that dread disease, consumption. All that mortal hand could do to ward off the grim messenger was done, but it availed nothing and the end came as above stated.
Agnes spent her life at home with her parents and was one of those choice spirits who fill the home with sunshine. During her illness she was a great sufferer, but amid it all she was patient and resigned, and her explicit faith in her savior made her strong in the hour of separation and enabled her to say “Thy will be done.”
As a friend she was always considerate of the welfare of others, scattering cheer and sunshine and in many ways making herself worthy of the love and friendship of all who came within the sphere of her influence.
She was conscious to the last and realizing that her departure was at hand, she called her friends and loved ones to her bedside and bade them farewell. Though young in years her work is done and she has gone to receive her reward. The bereaved family have the sympathy of the entire community in their loss.
The funeral service was held. at the family home on last Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. J. W. Stribling, and was attended by a large number of friends. Interment was in North Branch cemetery.
