LIFE'S JOURNEY ENDED

Brief Mention. of Those Who Have Answered the Last Roll Cull.

Col. S. L. Wood.

Col. S. L. Wood, a resident of St. Charles for more than forty years, passed away at Long Beach, Cal., on May 16. He was born in Worcester, Mass., in 1827, and was past 88 at the time of his death. Colonel Wood, as everybody called him, was a man of rather unusual experiences in life. For many years he followed the occupation of a sailor and in his travels touched at ports of practically all the countries of the world.
