Celebration of Life Services for Helen Jean Morris, age 91, of Winterset, formerly of Lenox, who passed away Friday, June 5, 2015 will be held Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the Ritchie Funeral Home in Lenox. Visitation will be held Monday at the Ritchie Funeral Home from 3 to 7 with the family greeting friends from 5 to 7. Memorials may be given in Helen Jean's name. Memories can be shared with the family at www.ritchiefuneralhome.com under Obituaries. Arrangements were entrusted to the Ritchie Funeral Home of Lenox.

Helen Jean (Robinson) Morris was born in Conway, IA to Mark and Lula (Smith) Robinson. She was the third of five daughters and all of the girls were raised in the Sharpsburg and Conway area where they attended country schools.

In 1941, Helen Jean graduated from Conway high school. Later that same year, she met Kenneth Morris at the Lenox skating rink. On Kenneth's 21st birthday, February 14, 1942, they married and made their first home south of Stringtown. Upon their move to a farm in Clearfield in 1951, Helen Jean became known for her delicious meals she provided daily to the hired men.

While in Clearfield, Kenneth and Helen Jean welcomed four children, Lewis, Nancy, Janie and Todd.

Helen Jean liked just being a mom, teaching the girls how to cook and do house work – something she always loved to do. The boys had many chores to do and Helen Jean would help them so the family could get to a ballgame or a show on time. In 1978, the Morris's moved to Lenox where they spent the remainder of their years together until Kenneth's passing in 1986.

Helen Jean is survived by her four children: Lewis (Patti) Morris of Corning, IA, Nancy Morris of Jefferson, IA, Janie (Mike) Bengard of Spring Hill, TN and Todd (Christie) Morris of Winterset, IA. She is also survived by her four sisters: Dorothy (Kenneth) John of Lenox, IA, Arlene (Wyatt) Grimm of Winterset, IA, Norma Cobb of St. Joseph, MO and Marjorie (Bill) of Norwalk, IA. Kenneth and Helen Jean were blessed with twelve grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

Helen Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth and
grandson Aaron Jay Morris.
