Daniel Wise was born in Youngstown, Ohio, February 6, 1825 and died May 10, 1913, aged 88 years, 3 months and 7 days. He remained in Ohio until 1851 when he went to California and followed mining for three years. He returned to Ohio and remained a short time, removing to Vinton, Iowa in 1851.
He was united in marriage with Miss Elizabeth Potter in Marion, Linn county, Iowa in 1857. To this union seven children were born of which three are living. Mrs. E. Powell of Winterset; Willard A. Wise of Houston, Texas; and John V. Wise of Los Angeles, California, four daughters preceding him in death, eight, thirteen, sixteen and seventeen years ago.
Mr. Wise and family resided in Vinton until 1885 when they moved on their farm one fourth mile from Belle Plaine, Iowa, and has since lived in Iowa until twelve years ago when he removed to Houston, Texas where he lived before coming to Winterset.
He was a member of the Presbyterian church of Houston, Texas at the time of his death and passed away from the infirmities of old age.
