Mrs. Nancy Jane Young died at her home, between St. Charles and Bevington, Monday, April 23, from nerve complications. She was the widow of James Yung, who died twenty-eight years ago and until her death was one of three Civil war widows in Madison county. She had reached the age of 93. She came here from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, seventy-three years ago. She is the mother of two sons and three daughters; on son and two daughters of whom are living. Mrs. Young was only ill for a couple of hours, and was conscious until the end.

Funeral services were held at Blair Chapel church, Wednesday, April 25th, at 11 o’clock. She is survived by three children: Mrs. Blanche Scrivener, with whom she made her home; Mrs. Betty Cunard, of Nebraska and a son, King Young of Montana.

Nancy Jane Sankey, daughter of John and Cynthia Sankey, was born March 19th, 1835, in New Castle, Pennsylvania, and died at her home north of St. Charles, April 23, 1928, aged 93 years, 1 month and 4 days.

She was married to James Young July 6th, 1854. To this union were born six children, Syntha, Frank and Martha, who have preceded her in death: King Young, of Bridger, Montana; Mrs. R. L. Kinnaird, of Chadron, Nebraska, and Mrs. Albert Scrivner, where she had made her home since the death of her husband, who died June 4th, 1900. Besides her children, she leaves one sister, Mrs. E. L. McMillen, of North Warren, Pennsylvania; thirteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren to mourn her loss. Mrs. Young’s husband was a veteran of the Civil war.

The funeral services were held Wednesday, April 25th in the Blair Chapel church, and the remains were laid to rest in the Blair Chapel cemetery by the side of her husband. The funeral services were conducted by the Rev. F. G. Barnes, pastor of the M. E. church of St. Charles.
