Ella Brock Smith Died

Mrs. Ella Brock Smith, died at her home in this city at 10 o’clock a.m. last Saturday, after a serious and painful illness.

Deceased was a noble Christian lady, a member of the M. E. church, assistant superintendent of the Sunday school, and an active member of the W. R. C.

The funeral was held at the M. E. church Monday, Rev. Harris officiating and the W. R. C. in charge of the ceremonies. The church was appropriately decorated with flowers, and a large congregation was in attendance to pay the last sad rites of respect to a noble lady. A quartette composed of Mrs. C. A. Cole, Miss Gertie Foresman, Ray Price and B. R. Bare, furnished vocal music for the sad occasion.

Mrs. Smith was born in Winterset in 1857, and married to S. L. Smith in 1886. She leaves a husband and four small sons to mourn the loss of a loving wife and mother.

Mrs. Leroy Smith, of this city, whose illness was noted in these columns a week ago, died last Saturday morning. Not until a day or two before her death was her condition considered serious, but from Thursday night her disease, an affection of the bowels, culminated rapidly.

Mrs. Smith is a daughter of Mr. & Mrs. J. F. Brock of Lincoln township and was brought up in this county. She followed the business of teaching before her marriage and has always been active in church. She leaves a husband and four little boys. The funeral service was held at the Methodist church yesterday afternoon.

Mrs. Leroy Smith died at her residence on west Jefferson street Saturday morning. Her condition was not considered dangerous until Thursday night after which she rapidly sank.

She was the daughter of Jonas Brock, of Lincoln township. She has been married about twelve years and leaves four small children.
