At her home near Union Chapel last Saturday, February 1st, at 9:30 a. m., Mrs. Kate Taylor passed away. She had been a sufferer for years with stomach and liver trouble, which lately developed into cancer of the liver, her suffering at times being most intense. Since November she had been confined to her home and the greater portion of the time to her bed.
Her funeral was held at the Chapel at 11 o’clock on Monday, the sermon being preached by Rev. Mercer, of St. Charles. The choir of the M. E. church at Patterson furnished the music. One of their number, a gentleman, sang a beautiful and appropriate solo, which was very effective. The remains were laid to rest in the cemetery adjoining the churchyard.
Mrs. Taylor was a loving and devoted wife and mother, a kind neighbor and friend, and was esteemed by all who knew her, as was attested by the large audience who came to pay their last respects to he memory, and by the beautiful floral decorations that were given.
