FUNERAL SERVICES FOR MRS. REED

Funeral services for Honor Amanda Reed, 64, were held last Saturday, Feb. 23, from the Truro Methodist church.

Mrs. Reed died Feb. 20 at Madison county Memorial hospital in Winterset.

The daughter of James Theodore and Mary Swearingen Creger, she was born on a farm near Truro Feb. 3, 1899. All of her life was spent in the Truro community where she was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and Methodist church.

On Feb. 2, 1919 she was married to Fred Reed, who survives. Other survivors include three sons, Fred, Jr., of Truro, Herbert and Harry of Winterset; one sister, Euphemia Robinson of Des Moines; and nine grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Mona Kale.

Officiating at the services last Saturday were the Rev. Clarence Moore of Clarinda and the Rev. Millard Marshall of Truro. Burial was in the Young cemetery near Truro.

Honor Amanda (Creger) Reed, daughter of Theodore and Mary (Swearingen) Creger, was born on a farm east of Truro, Feb. 3, 1899 and passed to the Great Beyond, Wed. Feb. 20, 1963, age 64 years and 17 days at the Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

When she was about 17 she moved with her parents into Truro. She graduated from the Truro High School in the first full High School course of the Truro School. She accepted Christ and united with the Methodist Church in Truro when a young girl and served the church faithfully for many years being a lay leader for several years. She was a member of the Woman's Society of Christian Service, the Guild, and also a member of Ivy Chapter, Truro, Iowa.

She was united in marriage to J. Fred Reed at her parents home Feb. 3, 1918 and to this union three sons were born, J. Fred Jr., of Truro; twin sons, Herbert Theodore and Harry Franklin of Winterset.

She underwent serious surgery seven years ago and again a few years ago. She seemingly recovered from this and led a very active life, always busy with her hands doing sewing, crocheting, making beautiful quilts, knitting and other activities. Her nine grandchildren were her special joy and she spent many hours doing things for them to make them happy.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her devoted husband, Fred, the three sons, 5 grandsons, 4 granddaughters, three daughters-in-law, Dorris, Dottie and Virginia; one sister, Mrs. Euphemia Robinson of Des Moines, one niece, Mrs. Mary Sidner and one nephew Jack Kale, other relatives and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Mrs. Mona Kale, one nephew, Charles Kale. Her last illness was full of suffering but she bore it bravely.

Mrs. Fred Reed Dies at Age 64

TRURO, IA. —Mrs. Fred (Honor Amanda) Reed, 64, died of cancer Wednesday at the Madison County Hospital at Winterset.

Services will be at the Methodist Church here at 2 p. m. Saturday. Surviving are her husband, three sons, Fred, jr., of Truro, and Herbert and Harry of Winterset; and sister, Mrs. Euthema Robinson of Des Moines, and nine grandchildren.

FUNERAL SATURDAY FOR MRS. REED, 64

Death Came Wednesday For Well-Known Truro Resident

Funeral services for Mrs. Fred Reed, Sr. of Truro and Palmetto, Florida, will be held this Saturday, Feb. 23, from the Methodist church in Truro.

Mrs. Reed died this Wednesday morning at Madison county Memorial hospital in Winterset. She was 64 years of age.

Survivors in addition to her husband include three sons: Fred Reed, Jr. of Truro, and Herbert and Harry Reed of Winterset.

The former Honor Creger, Mrs. Reed lived practically all of her life in the Truro community. She and her husband had spent the past several winters at their home in Palmetto, Florida.

“Honors Acres,” a housing addition developed by her sons at the west edge of Winterset, was named in her memory.

The funeral will be a 2 p. m. this Saturday, with Kale Funeral Home in Truro in charge. Burial will be in Young cemetery.

Mrs. Fred Reed Dies At Age 64

TRURO—Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon in Truro for Mrs. Fred Reed, 64-year-old life-time resident of the Truro community, who died Feb. 20, at the Madison county hospital in Winterset.

Rev. Clarence Moore of Clarinda, assisted by Rev. Millard Marshall of Truro, conducted the services in the Truro Methodist church. Burial was in the Young cemetery.

The daughter of Theodore and Mary Swearington Creger, she was born and lived all of her life in the Truro area.

Mr. and Mrs. Reed had spent several winters at their home in Palmetto, Fla.

She is survived by her husband, three sons, Fred Jr., of Truro, and Harry and Herbert of Winterset; nine grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Euphemia Robinson of Des Moines.
