Even more sudden and startling was the death of Mrs. A. M. Morrell, which was announced late last Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Morrell, who was a victim of heart trouble, was as well as usual until a short time before her death.

Her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Smith, who make their home with her, went last week upon a visit to Omaha. On Sunday afternoon Mrs. Morrell was sitting out in the front yard with two neighbor women. While they were talking, Mrs. Morrell announced that she felt ill and would like to be assisted to the house. Her friends carried her in, but when they reached the house found that she was dead, she having expired while being brought in or perhaps even before they started.

Mr. and Mrs. Smith were telegraphed for, and arrived yesterday. We understand that the funeral will be held tomorrow, but did not learn the hour, if it has yet been announced. Mrs. Morrell was well advanced in years, being the widow of A. M. Morrell who died about a year ago. She was a most amiable and worthy lady, and was respected by all who knew her.

Mrs. Morrell Dead.

Last Sunday afternoon the news was flashed over the city that Mrs. A. M. Morrell was dead, creating surprise and sorrow everywhere. The surprise was because of the suddenness of the death, deceased having been in apparent good health up to the moment of her death.

She was living with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Smith. Mr. and Mrs. Smith were in Omaha visiting relatives. Mrs. Morrell had just eaten dinner and was sitting in a rocker on the lawn talking with some neighbor ladies, when she was seized with an attack of heart complaint to which she was not altogether a stranger. She requested to be taken into the house, which was done immediately, and medical aid summoned. But before the doctor arrived she was still in death. Mr. and Mrs. Smith were immediately wired of the sad occurrence and they arrived home via Earlham on Monday.

Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Morrell moved to Winterset from Ohio in 1884, since which time they resided in this city. Mr. Morrell died in May 1895, and since his death Mrs. Morrell has had a pleasant home with her only child, Mrs. J. E. Smith. She was a very amiable lady and loved by a wide circle of acquaintances. The funeral was held at the residence at 10 o’clock yesterday morning.
