Jesse Barnett, son of Atha and Margaret Barnett, was born in Clinton county, Ohio, June 21, 1817, and died at the home of his daughter near Earlham, Iowa, November 8, 1903, at the age of 86 years, four months and 18 days.

He came with his parents to Marion county, Indiana at the age of 10 years. On the 6th of March, 1841, he was married to Maria Ballard. He removed soon after to Warren county, Iowa, and in 1870 came to Earlham, Iowa, living in and near this place until his death. He leaves three daughters, his wife and one son having preceded him to the better land.

He was a birthright member of the Friends church, and lived a quite Christian life. We can truthfully say that Uncle Jesse Barnett was a good man.

The funeral Services were held in the M. E. church on Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Wright, and were attended by a large number of friends. The remains were laid to rest in Earlham cemetery.
