Elsie Lamb

Elsie Lamb, 81, of Iowa City formerly of Creston, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on April 10, 2015 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at the Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Pastor Doug Brunell will officiate. Following the service luncheon will be provided at the First Presbyterian Church, 702 W. Prairie Street, Creston, Iowa. Burial at Moon Cemetery, Macksburg, Iowa will follow the luncheon. Open visitation will be from 2:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Wednesday April 15, 2015 at the Powers Funeral Home, 601 New York Avenue, Creston, Iowa with the family to receive friends from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm. Memorials can be donated to the women's group of the Presbyterian Church (Ida Schudder Circle) or Iowa City Hospice. Online condolences can be given at www.powersfh.com .

Elsie Mae Lamb was born on January 3, 1934 in Macksburg, Iowa to Josephine and Claude Eivins. She attended Macksburg High School. She married Clarence E. Lamb in 1950 and they resided in Creston until 2010.

Elsie was employed for many years at Place's Department Store and then Petznick's Printing. She retired from Petznick's in 2009.

Elsie was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Creston. Over the course of 57 years with the church she served as a deacon, an elder, a member of the Ida Schudder Circle and choir. She and Clarence served as leaders of the Youth Fellowship Group.

Elsie was active in the lives of her children. She was an active Boy Scout Leader and Girl Scout Leader.

Elsie cherished the time with her family and friends. She enjoyed making quilts for family members, as well as embroidering and crocheting many baby blankets and pillowcases for her family. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, playing cards, photography and travel. Her family will forever treasure a poem written for the grandchildren entitled "Cousins" and a story of growing up on the farm.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Clarence; two daughters Janet Outlund of Iowa City, Ia. and Marcia (husband Michael) Kelly of Batavia, Ill.; a son Kenneth (wife Glynda) Lamb of North Liberty, Ia.; seven grandchildren, MacKenzie (husband Stuart) Outlund Dietz of Boston, Mass., Erin Outlund of Los Angeles, Calif., Olivia Outlund of Iowa City, Ia., Allison Outlund of Seattle, Wash., Jacob (wife Angela) Lamb of Kalona, Ia., Jon (wife Sarah) Lamb of Coralville, Ia. and Richard Lamb of Iowa City, Ia. and three great-grandchildren, Rachel and Ryan Lamb both of Kalona, Ia. and Christopher lamb of Coralville, Ia. Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Evelyn Hoepker and two brothers Harold and Lee Eilvins.
