Jeffrey Carl Beebe, son of Robert and Vella (Dodd) Beebe, was born November 6, 1954 in Osceola. He attended the Winterset schools and graduated from Winterset High School in 1973. Jeff was united in marriage with Joan Thomas, January 24, 1976 at the Early Chapel Christian Church near Earlham. He met his wife Joan 42 years ago at Shutter’s Restaurant where they both worked at in high school and eventually wooed her into dating him. Two children were born to this union.
Jeff started Beebe’s Hardwood Floors 22 years ago which is now owned and operated by his son Jason. He was a talented woodworker who took great pride in his work. Jeff was a member of the Two Cylinder Club and enjoyed renovating old John Deere tractors. He liked engines whether it be the tractors he worked on or the train engines he admired. Jeff liked to hunt, fish, and travel; especially to the Black Hills and Clearwater Beach. He attended numerous NASCAR races, his favorite speedway being the Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee.
Jeff and Joan loved sharing their experiences with their family. They aspired to bring the family to a well hidden restaurant they discovered on the North Carolina coast where they were able to watch fisherman bring their catch straight to the restaurant’s dock. Raising roses were another passion that Jeff and Joan shared together. Jeff was quite the prankster and was continually sneaking up on Joan. Even when bound to his wheelchair, Jeff continued to make the trip to Kum & Go to have coffee with his friends. Above all else, Jeff loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and was an avid attendee of their sporting events and activities.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years Joan Beebe of Winterset; mother, Vella Beebe of Winterset; children, Jason Beebe of Waukee; Jessica (Darrell) Matlage of Winterset; grandchildren, Kailey, Kinsey, and Kaeler Beebe; brothers, Larry (Dorothy) Beebe of Dallas Center; Dan Beebe of Cherokee; sister, Launa (Mike) Reed of Winterset; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Jeff is preceded in death by his father Robert “Bob” Beebe.
