Winterset, IowaDied at her son’s home in Truro on Tuesday evening, January 5, 1904, Mrs. Elizabeth Creger, wife of Joseph H. Creger and daughter of James and Manona Middleton. She was taken sick Christmas night with that fatal disease pneumonia and after eleven days of suffering death came and released her.
She was married to Joseph H. Creger in the winter of 1871 and was 63 years and 8 days old at the time of her death. She leaves three sons, one daughter, a loving companion, one brother, two sisters and a host of friends and neighbors to mourn her departure. But we hope that our loss is her eternal gain. She was a devoted companion, a loving mother, a good and obliging neighbor and will be greatly missed in this community.
She joined the church and was baptized in her youth, in the state of Ohio. After coming to Iowa she united with the Christian church in the year 1889 and was a member until her death.
The funeral services were held at the Christian church on Wednesday afternoon, January 6th, conducted by the pastor, Rev. A. C. Burnham assisted by Rev. Foutch of the M. E. church, after which she was laid to rest in the Young cemetery. There to peacefully sleep till the resurrection morn. The large sympathizing congregation and the beautiful flowers which covered her casket were fitting testimonials of the love and respect accorded her by the people of this community.
