Sudden Death of Mrs. A. C. Mills

The community was startled Wednesday morning by the announcement of the sudden death Tuesday night about eleven o’clock of Mrs. A. C. Mills. She had arisen and gone to the window in answer to the fire alarm when she was stricken with heart failure, supposed to have been caused by the excitement occasioned by the alarm of fire, and expired in a few minutes.

Mrs. Mills was a stout and robust lady and it was not generally supposed she was subject to such attacks. She was a lady highly respected by all who knew her. She was a prominent member of the W.R.C. and active in all work pertaining thereto. Her death is greatly deplored by her large circle of friends, and the family have the deepest sympathy of the community. As we go to press the time of the funeral has not been decided upon, the family are waiting to hear from the son-in-law, B. L. Hardy, who is in Texas.

Death Mrs. A. C. Mills

Died Suddenly on Tuesday Evening. Was One of the Early Settlers of this County.

Mrs. A.C. Mills died suddenly Tuesday night at 11:30 from an attack of heart trouble lasting but a few minutes. She had been in somewhat poor health during the winter but retired in the evening in apparent good health. When the fire alarm was sounded for the Deeter fire she arose and went to the window to locate the fire. The shock of the fire alarm precipitated an attack of heart failure and she passed away in a few minutes and before her children who live a few blocks distance could reach her bedside.

The deceased whose maiden name was Mary Lucas was born in Sangamon county, Illinois, May 9, 1847. She was one of the early residents of this county, locating here in 1853.

Bereft by her death are the husband and seven children. Flossie and Claude who still live at home. Fred who lives in Des Moines, Mrs. B. B. Hardy, Mrs. Selwyn Koehler, Mrs. H. B. Wilson and Chas. M. Mills all of this county.

Funeral services will be held from the late home on Friday at 2:30 conducted by her pastor, Rev. Bennett, of the Christian church.
