Charles W. Afflerbach died at Truro, Iowa March 27, 1896, of congestion of the lungs. He united with the Church about four years ago and was a consistent and happy Christian.

He married on May 10, 1891, Miss Margaret J. Walker, who with two children survives him. He was triumphant in death.

DEATH'S DECREE
OBITUARY

DIED-On Friday, March 27, 1896, C. W. Afflerbach, aged 39 years, 4 months and 28 days.

He was born at Centerville, Appanoose county, Iowa, October 28th, 1856. He has been a resident of Madison county for a number of years and was widely known. He was a member of the Truro Methodist Episcopal church and led a life worthy of exemplification. He leaves a wife, two children, three brothers, one sister and an entire community to mourn his loss. Words are inadequate to express the sorrow in this vicinity by the loss of one who was respected as a man of few equals. The funeral was held at the M. E. church at 10:30, on Sunday the 29, conducted by the pastor, Rev. DeTar, who selected for his text the 9th chapter, 27th verse of Paul's epistle to the Hebrews which reads as follows:

"And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment".

After the funeral the remains were conveyed to the Ebenezer cemetery and consigned to rest beside his infant daughter.

The relatives in attendance at the funeral from abroad were, Albert and John Afflerbach of York, Neb.; S. Barker and wife and J. M. Lee and wife of Macksburg.

Truro Enterprise(s)—Today’s Paper.

At this writing (Thursday, at one o’clock) the messenger of death seems to be hovering over two homes in our midst. One is at the home of Mr. Queen, whose daughter Roxie has been at death’s door for the past ten days.

The other is our townsman, C. W. Afflerbach, who was taken sick last Thursday with congestion of the lungs.

The two parties at or near Truro, whose serious sickness was mentioned in these columns last Friday, have since passed away. Mr. C. W. Afflerbach died Friday, March 27, of congestion of the lungs. The funeral services were held Sunday by Rev. J. T. Detar.

Roxie, the four-year-old and only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Queen, died Sunday afternoon. The funeral services were held Monday afternoon, conducted by the same minister.
