Maryland Virginia Patt was born to Elisha and Mary Fry in Virginia August 17, 1856. She was christened upon the bridge that spans the Potomac between Virginia and Maryland.

When quite young she moved with her parents from Virginia to Indiana and later to Iowa.

She was united in marriage to Fred M. Patt in Adel, November 24, 1885. To this union were born four children, Hal, Fred, Virginia and Eugene all of whom died in their early childhood.

After residing in Stuart, Des Moines, Minneapolis, and Colorado Springs where Mr. Patt’s rail road positions carried them, they lived for a time in California where they went in hope of improving Mr. Patt’s health, but to no avail.

After his death December 10, 1932 Mrs. Patt returned to Earlham where she resided until her death after a lingering illness October 20, 1937.

The loss of her dear husband no doubt largely contributed to her declining health.

She was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

She leaves to mourn her passing, two sisters Maggie and Alice Fry of Earlham, two half brothers, Earn of Earlham and Denton of Butte, Montana, a sister-in-law Bertha Patt of Cedar Falls beside a host of other friends and relatives.
