CELIA SMITH, Winterset

Celia Smith, 94, of Winterset, Iowa, died Saturday, January 24, 2015 at West Bridge Care & Rehabilitation in Winterset. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 27, at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset with Rev. Dr. Beverlee Bell officiating. Burial will be in the Winterset Cemetery.

Celia Lois Bricker Smith was born on September 16, 1920 at home in Madison Township, Madison County, Iowa to Charley and Mabel (Bridges) Bricker. Celia had been a lifetime resident of Madison County. She graduated from DeSoto High School in 1938 and in her early years had worked in a number of homes around Madison County. On December 3, 1957 Celia married Russell Smith at Adel, Iowa. They farmed northeast of Winterset where she spent her time as a farm wife until Russell's death in 1976. She then moved to Winterset and had spent many years living at West Bridge Care & Rehabilitation.

Celia is survived by her brother, Kenneth (Osa) Bricker of Winterset; nephews, Keith Bricker, Ray (Cheryllynn) Bricker, and Phil (Sharon) Bricker; step nephews, Steve (Jeannie) Osborn; and several great and great great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charley and Mabel (Bridges) Bricker; husband, Russell Smith; and sister-in-law, Ethel Marie Carter Bricker.

Visitation will be 1 hour prior to her service. Memorials may be given to her family for a future designation.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.
