MRS. JOHNSON DIED FRIDAY

Funeral Services and Burial Were Held Monday at Linden, Her Former Home.

Mrs. C. E. Johnson passed away Friday at her home here. She was 59 years old and had been in failing health for some time.

Funeral services for Mrs. Johnson were held Monday afternoon in the Methodist Church at Linden, with the pastor Rev. A. E. Cochell officiating, assisted by Rev. James Walls, pastor of the Earlham Methodist church. Burial was at the side of her sons in the cemetery of the Church of the Brethren northwest of Panora.

Francis Clark, daughter of Jonathan and Mary Ann Clark, was born at Linden, Dallas County, Iowa, December 31, 1875, and departed from this life February 2, 1934 at her home in Earlham, Iowa.

She was united in marriage with Charles Elworth Johnson, Panora, Iowa, October 17, 1894, and to them were born eleven children: the eldest son Ernest passed away June 2, 1915 at the age of eighteen years, Willie, a son died in infancy; Mary Stonebrook, Spirit Lake, Iowa; Mrs. Mabel Salisbury, Cylinder, Iowa; Mrs. Jennie Chapman, Dexter; Earl, Lawrence, Wilbert Edward, Hazel, Florence, and Opal, an invalid daughter at home in Earlham, Iowa.

The family made their home in and near Linden for many years where Mrs. Johnson united with the Methodist Church where she held her membership at the time of her death. She is survived by her husband and nine children, one brother Grant Clark, Panora; two sisters, Mrs. G. W. Lyst, Van Meter; Mrs. Stonehocker, Linden; and twelve grandchildren. She was a devoted wife and mother and a friend in need.
