Earlham Echo
Earlham, Iowa
Thursday, June 25, 1931

Pera Riberich was born in Mekinjer, Serbia, Europe, on January 27, 1880, and passed to her reward at the Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, on June 19, 1931, being 51 years, four months and 19 days old.

She was united in marriage to Mike Radakovich in Yosan, Serbia, in 1906, and came to America by way of New Orleans the following year. This worthy couple resided for two years near Chicago and there the oldest child, Milosh was born. After that they moved to Pueblo, Colo., where Mildred and Fred were born. In 1912 they moved to Earlham, Iowa, taking up their residence south of town and here Helen, Mary, Dorothy, Sophie, George, Nick and Anna were born.

Mrs. Radakovich was a very quiet retiring woman, who devoted her whole life to the care and comfort of her family. Those who knew her in the realm of her home, which was her kingdom, testify to the untiring love of this faithful mother. A stranger in a strange land, greeted only in a strange tongue, she remained true to the faith of her childhood and imparted to her children the knowledge of the best things in life. “Her children rise up and call her blessed.”

During her time of sickness and suffering no word of complaint was heard as she patiently submitted to all that was done in an effort to restore her health. Aware that she might not return to her home, she comforted her beloved husband and children with the assurance that she was quite ready for whatever might happen. The husband and ten children are left to bear the loss which no one else can ever supply, but there will still linger the blessed memory of that fond mother whose first thoughts were always for them. Three infant sons preceded their mother in death, one the twin brother of Nick. She is survived also by her mother who still lives in Serbia, Europe; one sister, Mrs. Storich, of Valley Junction, Iowa, and many nieces and nephews. The whole community joins in sympathy with the bereaved family.

Funeral services were held from the Earlham Presbyterian Church Sunday afternoon in charge of Rev. Peter Bock, assisted by Rev. McEldowney. Interment was in the Earlham Cemetery.
