Janet was raised in her early years in the Winterset and Peru, Iowa, area where she attended elementary, middle and high school. After graduation, Janet married and raised three children: Michele Ann Curnes, Terry Wayne Curnes and Deborah Sue Curnes.

Janet also lived for many years in Milo, Iowa, where she owned and managed two restaurants. In later years, her love of flowers and horticulture led her to open the Peru Greenhouse when she moved back there. While in Peru, she remained active in the community and with the Peru United Methodist Church.

Upon retiring, she moved to Yuma, Ariz., to enjoy the warmer climate and the outdoors. Janet also enjoyed traveling with her family, dancing and music, playing cards and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a strong woman, an astute business woman and a loving friend to many along her Journey.

Janet was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Sue Curnes; parents, Blanche and James Roush; and her siblings, Veronica Porter, Lillian Totten, Donald Roush, James Roush Jr, Helen Houseman and Wayne Roush. She is survived by daughter, Michele Nowak (husband Kevin), and son, Terry Curnes (wife Mary); her grandson, Cory Doss (wife Tracey with two daughters Vivienne and Gabriella Doss), granddaughter, Terra Palmquist (husband Ryan, with son Breckin) and grandson Tyler Curnes.
