Emily Jane Cecil was born in Mahaska County, Iowa, Aug. 16, 1861 and departed this life near Earlham, Iowa, December 14, 1924, at the age of 63 years, 3 months and 28 days.

She was united in marriage to Samuel Henry Pearson in 1877. To this union were born 10 children, two died in infancy, one died in 1912. Her husband died on Aug. 18, 1920. She leaves to mourn her loss 3 sons and 4 daughters and 18 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Penn Center Church conducted by Rev. Shannon. Interment was in Penn Center Cemetery.
