Norman ‘Jake’ A. Jacobson, Story City

Norman “Jake” Amos Jacobson, 85, of Story City died June 13, 2014 at Bethany Manor in Story City.
Memorial services were held Tuesday, June 17 at Bergen Lutheran Church in Roland.

Norman Amos Jacobson was born on April 4, 1929 in Roland to Amos and Nora (Johnson) Jacobson. He was baptized and confirmed at Bergen Lutheran Church in Roland. He graduated from Roland High School and attended University of Iowa. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a member of the American Legion. Early in his career he worked for his father at Jacobson Trucking, briefly as an owner-operator, and then drove for Ace Lines Trucking.

Jake married Joanne Armstrong on July 1, 1995. He is survived by his second wife, Joanne, of Manson, IA; three daughters: Kay (Jacobson) Stanley (Don) of Winterset, IA, Becky (Jacobson) Diercks (Ross) of Lusk, WY and Lori Jacobson (Jason Kogan) of Los Angeles, CA and one son, Jon Jacobson (Donna) of Cumming, IA and a stepdaughter, Michelle Thomson, of Osage Beach, MO; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Jake is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dan; a stepson, Mike; a grandson, Joe; a brother, Ed Jacobson; a sister, Jan Jacobson, and an infant sister.
