IRWIN HUFF, NORTH DAKOTA

Irwin Harvey Huff of Bismarck, ND, died Friday, June 13, 2014.

A memorial is being planned at a later date in his home state of Iowa.

Irwin was born on March 20, 1934, north of Fontanelle, Iowa, in Prussia Township to Jacob “Jake” and Elsie Leona (Campfield) Huff. Irwin attended Country Schools and graduated from Winterset High School in 1952. He was the Iowa State boxing champion in high school. He received his degree in 1959 from Iowa State University. He was a member of Phi Kappa Psi. He was in private practice in Panora, IA for three years starting in 1961. Irwin joined the United States Dept of Agriculture in 1964. Between 1964 and 1998 he was a USDA Veterinarian, Manager and Epidemiologist on various Federal Government assignments. He received a Masters degree in 1972 at University of California, Davis, CA in Public Health. From October 1984 to March 28, 1998, he was Area Veterinarian in Charge of all Veterinary Services programs in the State of North Dakota. Irwin married Anne Marie Moore June 21, 1959, at the Macksburg Methodist Church. Irwin and Anne had five girls together. He later married Carolyn Louise Lowry.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his five daughters, Cindy (Joe) Maypother of Acton, Mass., Debbie (Gerry) Taccini of Rancho Palos Verde, Calif., Gail (Scott) Brownof Rye, NH, Jennifer (Paul) Cook of Littleton, Mass., and Callie (Matt) Stuhl of Milford, Mass.; one sister, Virginia Chaffee of Kingsville, Mo.; and one brother, Larry (Sharon) Huff of Winterset; and seven grandchildren.

Celebration of Life

The family of Irwin Huff will be having a Celebration of Life on Sunday August 24th at the Church of the Nazarene, 418 W. Summit St. in Winterset at 3:30-4:45 followed by a burial at the Winterset Cemetery, and a reception at Sports Page at 6 pm.
