Evonne Brimmer, 96, of LaCrescent, Michigan, died Wednesday, May 21, 2014.
A Mass of Christian burial was held at St. Philip Catholic Church in Battle Creek, Mich., on Wednesday, May 28, with burial in Fort Custer National Cemetery.
Evonne Marguerite Kordick was born on the family farm near Winterset on May 1, 1918, to Leo and Anna (Schreiner) Kordick. She graduated from Winterset High School in 1935. She then attended Ottumwa Heights Community College. Evonne married William Brimmer on April 6, 1946, at St. Thomas Canterbury Church in Chicago. Bill was a career Army man and they lived in several states, and France. After Bill retired they moved to Warren, Mich., and resided there for 48 years. She was an active volunteer for over 30 years for the McComb County Food Program. After Bill’s death she moved to LaCrescent, Mich.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Lawrence, John and Joseph Kordick; and son-in-law, Albert Deloras-Billot.
She is survived by her children, Jo Ann Brimmer (Jim Williams), Evonnie (Albert) Deloras-Billot, Kathryn Brimmer, Diane Brimmer, William Brimmer, Janine (Jeffrey) Austin, Steven Brimmer and Denise (Clyde) Beare; 13 grandchildren; and siblings Sister Dorothy Kordick, Theresa O’Roake, Charles Kordock, Sister Rose Kordick and Leo Kordick.
