Clifford Clarence Lampe, Altoona

Clifford C. Lampe, age 89, of Altoona, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, April 27, 2014. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2014, at the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Altoona with Pastor Bob McConnell officiating. Interment will be at Waukee Cemetery in Waukee, IA. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 2, 2014, at Hamilton's Altoona Funeral in Altoona, IA. Memorials may be designated to Cornerstone Baptist Church in Altoona, IA.

Clifford Clarence Lampe was born the son of Henry Gus Lampe and Mary Ella (Lake) Lampe on June 5, 1924 in Bynumville, MO. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served during World War II. He was united in marriage to Marianne Sipi on March 15, 1952 in Des Moines, IA. The couple was blessed with three children - Annmarie (Ann), Katherine Sue (Kay) and James Clifford (Jimmy). They began their married lives for a short time in Des Moines, IA, moving to Seattle, WA for 8 years, moving to Keytesville, MO for 3 years and settled in Winterset, IA until they moved to Altoona, IA in 2005.

Cliff worked for CC Taft in Des Moines, Swift Meat Packing in Seattle, farmed various times of his life, and retired from the Farmer's Coop in Winterset. Cliff's faith in Jesus Christ was very important to him and he did not hesitate to share his faith even when in the hospital. He was a member and deacon of Cornerstone Baptist Church.

Cliff enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, spending time with family and friends, and the RFD channel. He will be remembered for his smile and his interest in people.

Cliff is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marianne of Altoona; daughter, Ann (Tony) Wingerter of Grinnell; daughter, Kay (Todd) Pierce of Des Moines; step grandchildren, Amy Lundstrum (Tim Taylor) of West Des Moines, Matt Wingerter (Amanda Wilhelm) of Des Moines, Grant Wingerter (Kylee Johnson) of Des Moines; great grandchildren, Nicholas and Julia Lundstrum; sister, Louella DeLong of Truro; sisters-in-law, Ruth Lampe of Winterset and Helen Lampe Salisbury, MO; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son; parents; sisters, Evelyn Lampe, Leona Crumbaugh, and Nina Mills; brothers, Raymond, Gharold (Bud), George, Lavern, and Wayne Lampe; and nephew, Clarence Mills.
