Charles passed away March 12, 2014 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was 94.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 3, 2014 at the St. Patrick's Irish Settlement Church near Cumming. Memorials may be directed to the church. Online condolences may be made to the family at ochiltree.com.
Charles Michael McLaughlin was born January 13, 1920, the son of Charles and Jane (Aller) McLaughlin. He graduated from Martensdale High School in 1937 and entered the United States Navy shortly after graduation. Charles served on the USS Saratoga and the USS Lexington, leaving the Navy in 1945, shortly after World War II ended.
Charles worked many years at Des Moines Pack. After retiring, he moved to Las Vegas, NV where he lived for 29 years until his death. Charles was an avid walker and could be spotted anywhere in the Des Moines area. He continued his love of walking in Las Vegas, walking on Fremont Street daily.
Charles is survived by his brothers, Francis (Bud), Lewis, Eugene, Ray, and Marvin; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Vernon; and sisters-in-law, Margaret and Connie McLaughlin.
