LARRY MORRISSEY, COLUMBIA, MISSOURI

Larry Morrissey, 72, of Columbia, Mo., passed away April 5, 2014.

He was born Sept. 12, 1941, in Winterset, IA to the late Patrick Henry and Carrie Lucile (Spillers) Morrissey. He married Phyllis Barker on Oct. 12, 1960, in Ottumwa, Iowa, and she survives.

Larry worked in the lumber industry most of his working life. In his free time, he enjoyed golf, billiards, and spending time with his loving family and friends. He was very proud of his Irish heritage. Always quick with a joke or to lend a helping hand, Larry never met a stranger or harbored any prejudices. He volunteered at Missouri Cancer Associates in Columbia, Mo. Larry and his wife, Phyllis, were charter members of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Carmel, Ind.

A visitation was held today (Wednesday, Apr. 9) at 1 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home in Columbia, Mo., with the memorial service following at 2 p.m.

In addition to his devoted wife, Phyllis, Larry is survived by his children: Linda Morrissey (partner, Deb Krieger) of Golden Valley, Minn., Jon Morrissey (wife, Alyssa Guidry) of Englewood, Colo., and stepson, Terry Bell (wife, Angela) of Franklin, Tenn.; sister: Beverly Kile (husband, Richard) of Urbandale, Iowa; and grandchildren: Ciara, Tristian and Gianna Bell, all of Franklin, Tenn.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Cory Bell.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Mark’s United Methodist Church (4780 E. 126th St., Carmel IN 46033).
