Thursday, January 23, 1908

Huldah Cox, daughter of Thomas and Ruth Wilson, was born March 18, 1835, in Marion county, Indiana; died suddenly in Des Moines, Dec. 16, 1907, of heart failure. Short services were held at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. D. Anderson, by the Rev. Charles Sweet, pastor of the Friends church, and continued at the Greenwood church, north of Des Moines, by Isaac P. Cook and the body laid to rest in the Greenwood cemetery by the side of her two sons.

She was married to Wesley Cox, Oct. 18, 1856, at her home in Marion county, Ind., and they walked life’s journey together for more than fifty years. To this union were born thirteen children, five of whom preceded her to the better world, leaving three daughters and five sons with many relatives and friends to mourn her loss. Her husband passed away March 30, 1907, at Elmwood, California.

She lived a consistent Christian life and left many tokens of her faithfulness among which are some precious gifts of her own composition left for the edification of her children and friends. She will be missed by her many friends, yet we know that our loss is her eternal gain.

They moved to Iowa the spring of 1857 and settled on the farm now known as the Jennings Osborne property, just north of Earlham, where the stone house stands. They lived there until 1878, when they moved to Greenwood, Polk county, ten miles north of Des Moines, and moved back to Earlham in 1907 (sic), and lived here until 1903, when they moved to California where the husband was laid to rest. She came to Des Moines to visit with her children.
