PARNELL, IA.—Services for Rev. Robert F. Couch, 46, of Parnell will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Holbrook. He died Saturday at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. He served area parishes in Davenport, Burlington, Iowa City, East Pleasant Plain, Holbrook and Parnell, and served as chaplain at University Hospitals in Iowa City. Survivors include two brothers, George of Des Moines and James of Norwalk.

Father Robert F. Couch dies; was Holbrook pastor
Father Robert F. Couch, pastor of St. Michael parish, Holbrook, and St. Joseph parish, Parnell, died Saturday, April 29, in Iowa City. He was 46.
The funeral Mass for Fr. Couch was celebrated Tuesday morning at the Holbrook Church.
Fr. Couch was a native of Winterset, Ia., who graduated from St. Ambrose College, Davenport, in 1957. After taking his advanced theology at Mount St. Bernard, Dubuque, he was ordained to the priesthood in 1961.
For three months in 1961, he was an assistant pastor at Holy Family parish, in Davenport. He then was named assistant pastor at St. Patrick parish, Burlington.
From 1962 to 1967 he was assistant pastor of Our Lady of Victory parish, Davenport, and from 1967 to 1976 he was assistant pastor at St. Thomas More parish, Iowa City, and chaplain of University Hospitals, Iowa City.
He was temporary administrator of St. Joseph parish, East Pleasant Plain, for three months before being assigned to the Holbrook parish in December 1976.
Survivors include two brothers.
