Thursday, April 5, 1900The funeral of Mrs. L. F. Hickman, who died last week in Harrison county, Missouri, was held in the Friends church here on Monday afternoon at two o’clock, conducted by Rev. Jacobs of Winterset.
The death of Mrs. Hickman was a peculiarly sad one, as but a few short weeks ago she bid farewell to her family and friends and departed for a new home in another state. At that time she was in good health and life seemed all brightness. But in this, as in all things, man proposes and God disposes, and now all that is mortal of this estimable woman rests in the city of the dead just east of our city.
Vera Alma, daughter of Riley and Mary Edwards, was born May 3d, 1874, in Morgan county, Indiana, and came to Iowa with her parents in 1881. On October 6, 1895, she was united in marriage to L. F. Hickman. On Friday, March 30, 1900, she departed this life aged 25 years, 10 months and 27 days. She leaves two children, a husband, father and mother, brothers, sisters and a wide circle of friends to mourn her loss.
