1912

Mrs. Harriet Hurt died early Sunday morning at the home of her sister, Mrs. R. C. Mendenhall, as the result of tuberculosis. The funeral services were held Monday at the home, Rev. Mills conducting the service. The following lines are, in brief, the simple life history of this good woman:

Harriet E. Jackson was born in Pike Co., Ohio, April 20, 1855. Her girlhood days were spent in Worth Co., Mo. Later she moved to Kansas. She was married to W. R. Hurt, Sept. 5, 1895. Her husband died in 1902. The last three years of her married life she spent with her sister, Mrs. R. C. Mendenhall, in Earlham.

Mrs. Hurt was a Christian woman, a member of the Baptist Church for over fifty years. During her last days she gave expression to continued faith in Christ. She believed she was ready to go and death came to her as a welcome relief from suffering.
