Earlham Echo
Earlham, Iowa
March 1912

James Alexander was born January 11, 1834 and died February 29, 1912. He was born near Mercerburg, Pa. His life was simple, plain and unobtrusive. He was devoted to his home and always willing to sacrifice his own comfort for the welfare of others. His wife preceded him to the home above some years ago.

From the first he was resigned to his fate. In the midst of his suffering at all times he exhibited patience and resignation.

He leaves four brothers, two sisters and a host of friends to mourn the loss. Surely a good life has passed out from among us. A life full of good deeds, with a clear record, morally, socially and religiously, constantly accomplishing something in the Masters name without show or boasting and ever striving to learn and perform duty.

Services were conducted by the Rev. V. B. Demaree of the Presbyterian Church of Earlham, and interment was made in Earlham Cemetery.
