J. S. Phillips died last Tuesday from blood poisoning, which was caused by a scratch while handling wire a few days before. He leaves a wife, a daughter, Mrs. Fred Douglas, and three sisters: Mrs. Clark and Mrs. Cleghorn of Knoxville and Mrs. DeCook of California.
Funeral services were held at the M. E. church Thursday, conducted by Rev. Gans. Burial was in the St. Charles cemetery, west of town.

I. S. Phillips died at his home in St. Charles April 24. His death was caused by blood poisoning, caused by scratching his thumb with a wire a few days before his death.
Mr. Phillips lived south of town for many years. A few years ago he went into the hardware business here.
He leaves his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Carrie Douglas, four grandchildren, three sisters and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held in the M. E. church, conducted by Rev. Gans. Interment was in the St. Charles cemetery.
