Miss Lela Cummins, daughter of Mrs. Jennie Cummins, died on Jan. 31st at the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines. She had been afflicted with gall stones, underwent an operation on Monday, and died yesterday morning.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at one o’clock at the home of her mother near Macksburg. The body will be buried in the Clark cemetery.

Page 6The body of Miss Lela Cummins arrived at Winterset on Thursday, Feb. 1st, on the evening train. Her death occurred in Des Moines on Jan. 31st after undergoing an operation on Jan. 29.
Lela was born in Monroe township, Madison county, in 1893, where she lived until the last few years, which she spent in Des Moines. She was the youngest daughter of Mrs. Jennie Cummins, her father having passed away a number of years ago, and an older sister, who died about three years ago.
She leaves to mourn her loss, a mother, a sister, Mrs. O. R. Kerns; and three brothers, J. M. and Earl Cummins, both of Winterset and Eric Cummins of Patterson; seven nieces, three nephews and a host of friends. She was always ready to lend a helpful and kindly hand to others, and an untiring worker.
