May 14, 1925 - Jan. 3, 2014Cecil Shaw, 88, of Winterset, Iowa, died Friday, January 3, 2014 at West Bridge Care & Rehabilitation in Winterset. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, January 7, 2014, at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset with Pastor Terry Kerr officiating. Burial will be in the Winterset Cemetery.
Cecil was born on May 14, 1925, at Madison County, Iowa to Glenn and Pearl (Chase) Shaw. He had been a farmer and a lifetime resident of Madison County. Cecil was a 1943 graduate of Winterset High School and later served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Upon returning to Winterset Cecil married Norma Jean Kile on January 15, 1954. Cecil was a member of the American Legion Post #184 of Winterset.
Cecil is survived by his wife, Norma J. Shaw of Winterset; sons, Steve (Vanna) Shaw of Luther, Oklahoma and Randy Shaw of Winterset; sister, Lorraine Powell of Winterset; grandchildren, Jace Shaw, Brance Shaw, Trenton Shaw, and David (Holly) Drake; and great grandchildren, Jackson Drake and Jacob Drake.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Pearl (Chase) Shaw; and sons, Rick Shaw and Gary Shaw.
Visitation will be Monday from noon to 8 PM at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 3 to 5 PM. Memorials given to the family will be directed to Middle River Hospice.
